General Summary: Reports to Engineering Manager. Plans, maintains, builds, and makes most efficient switch panels, batteries, wiring harnesses, and EFI components for testing/racing. Performs electrical design, theory, and applied tasks.
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Plans, builds, and maintains switch panels and tests switch panels before/after each race/test.
Plans, builds, and maintains batteries, performs endurance tests and load tests of batteries and records all data.
Plans, maintains, and services wiring harnesses, tests and repairs all defective harnesses.
Plans, maintains and services all fans used on the race car, performs amperage tests and airflow tests, and records all data.
Plans, maintains and services EFI sensors/equipment, test and repair all defective EFI sensors/equipment.
Ensures database integrity of all electrical components in current SHR database and makes sure mileage is being properly documented on each component.
Integrates electrical design and theory where applicable.
Updates and follows maintenance procedures for electrical items provided to race/test cars.
Provides electrical support for miscellaneous jobs (i.e. - heater probes, heater control boxes, jumpers, splitters, etc) throughout the Race Shop as needed.
Provides Shop Foremen and fellow electrical personnel build plans for electrical components for car builds on weekly basis for race/test cars.
Assumes any responsibilities delegated by the Engineering Manager.
Education and Work Experience:
4 year degree in an Electrical or Electronic field required. Typically requires 3 years of experience in automobile racing, preferably NASCAR.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
Complete understanding of gauges, switches, batteries, and wiring harnesses. Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Hand tools, power tools, MSD load bank, oscilloscope, DC regulator, multimeter/ampmeter, battery load tester, battery charger, battery endurance tester and software, battery inline tester, gauge pressure tester, harness tester, heat gun, soldering iron, crimping tools, various computer spreadsheets, software programs computer, telephone and cell phone.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Manual dexterity. Repeated bending and squatting. Able to work long hours and flexible work schedule. Able to handle stressful situations. Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands. Work environment includes potential for electrical shock, moving vehicles, hot metal, fumes, extreme heat, noise, and power tools.
