    Roll Hoop Bend dimensions

    Hi,
This is Apoorv from SRM University, India. We are currently in the fabrication phase of our vehicle. For our chassis main hoop we used 25.4mmX2.5mm round tubes and got them bended. After bending the outer diameter reduced upto 24.5mm. We could not check the thickness of our tube.
Is this dimension of tube acceptable in competition as the outer OD is now 24.5. Do need to check the thickness as well and keep it at least 2.4mm. As the bend is very smooth and fine we are assuming that thickness must not have decreased much. Also rule book doesnt say anything about this.

I think As long as the bend is smooth, and the bending radius meets T3.10.7 . it will pass, as in the competition the scrutineer measures the dimensions of the hoop tube at area where no bending is shown.

As long as you comply with rules on the minimum centre line radius relative to tube diameter, and there is no glaringly obvious crimping of the tube you should be okay.

    Apoorv,

You cannot get a definitive answer to a question like this on this forum.
You need to apply to the rules committee of whichever event you wish to enter.
Make sure you have some good pictures with your submission.
