This year we invested in Keizer's high end magnesium centered wheels. We had brand new tires mounted to them, which was a big expense given our funding. Unfortunately we got a call from the company mounting our tires saying our rims were bent (brand new). They sent us a video of the wheel spinning and it was pretty clear. After contacting Keizer, they said that they were sorry, but if tires had been mounted, the responsibility was ours and we would not be able to have them repaired/replaced.

I can't say for sure that it was Keizer's fault, and I understand that their stance that it could have been the tire shop that bent the wheel. I'm posting this as a warning to others to THOROUGHLY inspect your wheels after receiving them. The bend is definitely not noticeable to the naked eye without rotating it first, and the huge suspension improvements we've worked to employ this year could be completely nullified by this warped rim.

Hope this helps some teams.

Also, Keizer: Can you please reconsider fixing our wheel before competition??

Our wheels are also bent, we will be contacting them Monday. They better not give us the same response, we waited over a month past the delivery date to get those dang wheels...

Had 8 tires mounted by a local company two weeks ago. They bent 1 rim pretty bad, the rest were ok. I stayed at the stored and watched them mount them. The first one ( the one that got bent) they aired up WAY too high pressure because they didn't get enough lube on the tire. When it popped and seated, the rim was pretty much toast. The center was fine, so I ordered a new barrel and put the tire on myself ( took apart the rim and then bolted it back together with the tire around it.) Sealed it with silicon too.

I'd bank it was the tire mounting people just not being careful and not realizing that they aren't made of steel.

If you aren't careful, the rims are quite easy to bend while mounting tires. Keizer wheels have a reputation in the AX world of being very lightweight, but also very fragile. It makes sense given their relatively low price point (in comparison to Jongbloeds, etc.). That said, we have also opened the box to find a bent rim too.

Not to rain on your parade, but I would side with Keizer in this instance since you (and they for that matter) can't pinpoint when the wheel was damaged.

Can you straighten the rim yourself?
