@Scania - Without a second energy source (ie: storage), can you still call it a hybrid powertrain?

My guess is that you're trying to sell FSAE to your school instead of some hybrid team that they are favoring, and have lost sight of the fact that you will need to still sell your final vehicle design to the FSAE judges when you get to competition. Fill out mass budget spreadsheets for a traditional powertrain versus an engine, generator, cables, and drive motor(s). Then, figure out the drive line loss going from kinetic energy to electricity and then back to kinetic energy for both systems. (Substitute hydraulic or pneumatic components if that was your thought.) If you think that you can sell your design to the judges, go for it! Obviously, A Richards thinks you won't be able to sell it.....
