Since Clif threw up a thread about travel, I guess I'll continue. In about two weeks, my wife and I are relocating across the country. We'll be moving from Cleveland, Oh to Vandenberg Air Force Base on California's central coast (she's in the service). Do any of you have any must see destinations on a cross-country trip? We have 8 days to make the voyage, which puts us around 350 miles a day if you split it up evenly...not too stressful. Right now our rough planned route consists of taking I-76 across most of the country and into Denver. Then from there, swinging south through Vegas (have to stop there to visit family), and on to the coast. But I'm open to any good suggestions as well.

And on another note, if any one knows of any good companies to work for in the Lompoc/Stanta Maria/Santa Barbara area, please pass them along! Thanks for the input.

I-70 maybe?

Anyway, it's pretty much a standing offer that mtg made in another thread (http://fsae.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/825607348/m/87610546041?r=31910546041#31910546041).
Anyone coming through Denver is encouraged to contact us for Karting (http://www.thetrack.us/) and beers.

The Rocky Mountains are just west of Denver – no skiing this time of year but the Mountain biking is pretty awesome. We did Winter Park last weekend (http://picasaweb.google.com/theclaxton/WinterPark/photo#5085936639905036242) with 8 former FSAE guys. (You can rent everything you need)

Moab is about 30 miles south of I-70 when you get into Utah.
It's a pretty cool town – a Mecca for mountain biking and 4x4s (Jeeps).

and I think we're planning on riding Winter Park again in the next couple weeks.

Hey Jason,

Send me your contact info...

I'm currently living in San Luis Obispo (SLO) and can def help you out, job wise and settling in. It would be good to have another fsae guy around.

Highway 1 is always good... great if you're between SLO and Laguna Seca. Salt Lake City is a neat place to visit if you've got the time to swing up north a bit.

Cheers,

Justin Jang

Thanks for the suggestions...keep 'em comin! I'm familiar with Moab, as I spent a number of years as a bike shop mechanic, but hadn't thought of it as a destination. Might be worth a look. The north shore-y type obstacles look pretty cool!

Justin, I sent you a PM.

I hear the North Rim of the Grand Canyon is pretty nice. It's much less crowded than the South Rim where the majority of people go. Seems with your route you'd already be on that side.
