We were considering doing a little experiment to measure the flow rate and pressure drop across the radiator, however we realized that having the system open will skew the results since it won't have any pressure in the system.

Has anyone come up with a better experiment, or gotten values via honda, or flow sensors?

Thanks,
matt

Figure out a way to put a pitot tube in the flow, keeping it sealed, and you can get your velocity knowing reference system pressure. Or you could go to your schools thermo lab, get a flow meter and find a way to plug it in. Or you could come up with a theoretical pressure drop across the radiator and find a correlation between the pressure drop and flow rate... then take your observed pressure drop from experiments running the car and you can get pretty close, as long as you have reliable data and appropriate pressure drop theory. Hope that helps some.

Oh and make sure you either keep the engine at a certain rpm as well as you can, or account for that in your logs, otherwise you won't be able to accurately plot flow rate vs. rpm... gotta love data...
