I am working on an Amod car right now and thinking about wings. I found a picture of a car at nationals that is blue and black that finished 5th I think. I would like to talk to that team. They had some nice looking wings. Chad

Or you could just pose questions here, and get feedback from a variety of bums and semi-professionals.. instead of just one group of bums and semi-professionals.

But hey, why bother with any of it, if you're gonna skimp out on the most basic and essential part of the setup.. buying used, worn, cheap race tires?

The school is University of Texas Arlington, or UTA as we call them. Dr. Bob Woods is there advisor and you can feel free to ask him questions, I know there is an amod or a bmod running a wing that is very similar to their setup...

website is fsae.uta.edu

I work in a machine shop doing welding and machine work. I can make wings cheap, but I can't make tires. I have to run used tires till I get the money to buy new ones. That and I only have two autocrosses left this season it would be stupid to put new tires on now but I not an engineer I am just a welder. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Chad

There's nothing wrong with used tires. As long as they hold air and pass tech, you'll get seat time...and we all should know by now how important seat time is in autocross.

Racecar Engineering magazine (from the UK) had an article recently by Simon McBeath, describing the analysis that he did when constructing the new wings for the Phantom. Simon was kind enough to post a copy of this article on his own business' web site, so you won't have to order the back issue: http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Since these are arguably the A-Mod wings to beat right now, you might want to draw some inspiration for your own project from this article.....
