Regarding tilting of vertical template

A small clarification is required in rule T4.2.2 "The template, with maximum thickness of 7mm (0.275 inch), will be held vertically and inserted into the cockpit opening rearward of the Front Roll Hoop, as close to the Front Roll Hoop as the car’s design will allow.". If the setup of our car is as shown in the figure, is it possible to tilt the template after insertion into the cockpit area so as to pass under the quick-release hub, since it seems that the required area of sweep is only checked forward of the front roll hoop?

Can the template be dropped in front of the hub, on the steering column, rotated and taken forward.
Also does anyone have an idea of the length of the 50 mm slot in the template.
Any help will be appreciated.

In reality, the slot in the template is infinitely long...but it can't be made that way or it would be in two pieces.
The scrutineers will not tilt the template to pass under (or over) things. The steering wheel and hub can be removed for the template test.

In your sketch, the steering column will pose no difficulty, however the rack would!

I was curious about this too.

The template will not go past the steering column unless it is "passed over or under". At least from the description given in the rules.

However, if the template were inserted past the steering column, and then made vertical, it would still be able to move forward.

What would be really nice is a video demonstration of how judges administer this test. How the rule is written and how teams design systems that pass do not seem to match up to me. Hopefully you can understand what I mean.

the slot is extending at about half the template height. The test is conducted as such: the template is inserted vertically right before the front hoop and pushed forward as long as the slot allows. When the botom of the slot touches the column, the template is rotated 180deg. (slot facing downwards) and then pushed all the way till the pedals. At least this is the procedure when scrutineering our car. I wonder why it is not described in the rulebook as it can be rather confusing.
