For anti-sub strap mounts for safety belts on our car, we have them going into our .5" thick aluminum honeycomb... do you think the tech guys will let us run with that? We have the shoulder and waist straps going to some .065" tubing. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From the tech inspection sheet on sae.org:
Safety Harness... all attached securely to primary structure-1.00"ODx0.065" tube min.

Or you can do some testing and submit a SSEF.

If you can utilise a clever insert design to spead the load through the core panel you should have no problem.. You will have to submit a SSEF for all areas you deviate from the space frame basis that the rules are built on. We have just had our car approved. We are using aluminium sandwich panels to make up the tub 0.5mm skins and 19mm core. We used custom design two part inserts that locked at 20mm apart to ensure there was no crushing of the core..
