Hello everyone, I am trying to get an accurate trigger angle for a YFZ450. The engine management being used is a Haltech E6X. I dissassembled the crank cover, and used geometry to approximate when the pulse from the mag occurs. It seems to be about 67 degrees BTDC. Can anyone confirm this number? We have experimented with different angles but they do not seem to be making a significant difference with tuning. I was also curious as to how to measure the ignition timing of the engine. We attempted to use a craftsman timing light but did not have any success. Is it possible that the high frequency of pulses is causing the timing light to not react properly? Obviously measuring the timing will be ideal, since we can lock the ignition timing, and adjust the trigger angle until it matches the actual timing being measured. All thoughts and help are appreciated.
