Are there any teams who have experienced an issue with their starter on the WR450 and its inability to keep a consistent cranking speed? We are getting cranking errors from our ecu because the starter is not spinning at a constant speed.

No engine has a constant cranking speed. Maybe you should look at the crank sensor and make sure it will give a more reliable signal at lower speeds. (reduce the gap / use a hall sensor instead of VR)
