Hi,

Does any one know what is the weight of the Yamaha Phazer engine and the weight of the CVT that comes with that engine please???

Thanks

Assuming you mean the Yamaha Fazer engine, I believe it is effectively a de-tuned Yamaha R6. If it is a 2005 model, off the top of my head ours weighed about 63kg dry. Google may be able to give a better estimate - ours was without intake or exhaust.

Not sure what you mean by the CVT, this engine's gearbox is very much discrete...

The Phazer is a 500cc inline twin, oddfire snowmobile engine. Your best bet is to call a Yamaha dealer and speak to parts and service there. I was given a number of about 80 pounds for the engine and primary clutch, but I wasnt able to verify this by actually weighing one and the guy was going by his calibrated arm.

Yeah, Yamaha's naming system is whack. Must mind your Ph's and F's. They also make 2 different Warriors: one is a quad, the other is a sport-cruiser.

Our block and head (dry) was 69 lb when we weighed it.

The guys at WPI switched to a Phazer the year after I graduated - I belive they said it was right in the 80lb range as well.

We experimented alot with this engine in a turbocharged version for 2009 before the economical crisis forced Yamaha to quit the project. Please contact an alumni teamate for more info

Ey guys!! I'm working on the transition from the AEM to a Microsquirt for ECU. What do you use like ECU. I cannot get any RPM from the Microsquirt. If you can go take a look at the microsquirt.info forum it is in Ignition Setup, Tuning, and troubleshooting topic. The subject's called FSAE || YAMAHA PHAZER 2007 NO RPM READING to what I've done already. Please fast answer will be really appreciate.

We do!

It's a pretty good engine if you treat her well. It also has a transmission inside of it, which is handy.

About that transmission part.... http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

you could put a supercharger on the driveshaft in between your engine and unorthodox transmission/diff.

Could always do like our Baja team did a couple years ago and run a "divorced" Harley transmission. Although that did live longer than the riding mower "transmission" they were originally going to use. Actually it was such overkill they ran it probably 20+ hours without any oil in it, then discovered the problem when they decided it might be a good idea to change the oil.

Naw, that's how Harley runs them too. Haven't you ever seen the area around a Harley before? http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yeah, that's how you know they still have oil in them. Once they stop leaking, that's when you should worry. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
