Hey Guys,
Our SES has been approved but I have been wondering ever since i filled up the thing whether there is some sort of solid reference material available as far as the formulae used in the SES are concerned. I can see that most formulae are simple Mechanics of Materials stuff but I could not place the formula for max. load at midspan for some reason and hence my query here.
Moreover, is there some sort of SAE paper or guideline document that specifies whether the SES method of verifying the structural integrity of a chassis is as per some standard or convention.
One more thing, related to the topic of finding references for the work we do and the specific engineering values we aim for, i have tried to find a quoted reference value of flexural rigidity and the accompanying chassis performance parameters but I haven't had much success. So any help would be much appreciated.
