I am curious to see the variety of racing that fsae members are apart of.

My brother and i race go karts competitively against eachother in the northwest.

Personally, i have been racing go karts for 10 years now. I have raced KT100 yamaha engines for about 9 of those years. I have placed in the top 5 at IKF Grand Nationals 3 times with that engine package.

Then we moved in to 125 cc shifter class. We have succeeded here too. 3 Top 5 finishes at grand nationals.

Then this last year, we made the jump to the slowes division of kart racing, but the best side by side racing. Briggs Animal 4 cycle. We participated in our first grand national event this past summer in McMinnville Oregon. Ran in the top 5 of 20-25 racers the entire week. Crashing and a sick motor prevented me from a win or atleast a top 5 finish. I had 2 6ths.

Those that are curious from University of Washington (where my brother goes to school). He has won 2 Grand national races, and had a 3rd, 4th place finishes, and would have won another, but the flag man THOUGHT he was blocking.

In our club, we have an autocrosser and a cicle track guy. I just wanted to know what was other schools experiences are.

See you at the track

For years I also dabbled in go-karts holding a few local karting track records. I qualified or the Red Bull F1 drivers search in 2004. But that was years ago. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

SuperSport2, what year is your brother and why isn't he on the UW Formula team?

He is a sophomore going in to civil engineer. He isnt sure if you have to be a mechanical engineer to be a part of the club and he isnt sure if he has the time. But, if you guys want to get ahold of him, i can give you his email address.

At least the way it works at the U-Dub, you don't have to be a mechanical engineer to participate. The only real requirement, as stated in the FSAE rules, is that you are a student and a member of SAE. We have a digital media arts major volunteering this year. Being an engineer of some sort certainly helps.

Like any team, we need people who are eager and able to come in and work hard, and learn what they need to best help the team.

We lost our best drivers over the course of the last 2 years. We'd be happy to at least talk with your brother.

Honestly I'll race whatever I can afford as long as I get a little adrenaline rush out of it.

I've done a bit of drag racing in my Mustang. As you can imagine, 40 year old suspension designs just about suck for competitive autocrossing.

I'd like to put together something small and get into AutoX, but never had the time or money.

A bit of trackdays and Autocrosses with my 116 Alfa GTV and Alfa 75, both with TwinSpark engines.

Nothing fancy but its good fun and a good way to learn how to drive!

Will start auto-x once the 924S project is done then followed by rally-x and full stage rallies when I decide to start and finish the 2.0 swap into a mk2 Golf.

i've done alot of autocrossing since i joined the team, before that i fallowed my dad around and did alot of midget/sprint racing(it is oklahoma). Now he has seen the light and moved on to road racing. It is nice. I get to test all my set up theories on his car as well as on the Formula car.

Well I'm poor and all I got is my 95 Wrangler.. so I'm limited to rallying around my neighborhood when we get 24 inches of snow and it gets cleared down a bit..

Odd how fast the cops show up when you go sideways past some people out walking their dog..

I do a little bit of H-stock autocrossing. I wont be doing much more until I can afford new suspension bushings for the civic though; I have given them hell!

My friends and I have started getting ourselves into trouble with a little "gymkhana" style racing. It involves plastic drink trays, cones, and empty parking lots!

I grew up around drag racing. Used to have a jr. dragster. Now, I'm partners with my Dad, in a bracket car. I do most of the driving. A typical quarter mile pass for me is 10.20 at 129 mph.

That makes two of us drifting around in the blizzard aftermath. I've had some priceless looks sliding around parking lots. A '92 Sentra SE-R with snow tires and viscous LSD makes for fun drifting also.

I have raced karts since i was 11, ran the road race grands in 03, finished 2nd, never went to sprint grands, but if so i would have seen you in mcminnville. Now I race SCCA club road racing in a T2 firebird. Check out my website for more.

Actively, only this, but I'm going to try to get my little drag car finished during the summer so I can be eaten alive by RawePower's 383.

I'm hoping to get back into the offroading trails when I graduate and get a solid front axle up front on my truck. I'll probably have to take the bed off to go on most trails, but oh well.

Formula student is not bad, 4 wheels, rollbars, safty harness, crumple zone, handbag http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif .....its 2 wheels too many for me, so I've started racing motocross this year. I've got myself a relatively small bike, a cr125 which is still a beast. There's nothing like going out in the mud and dirt racing against 50 other people, jumping crazy heights all with very little in the way of you and a broken limb if ya get it wrong http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I gre up racing circle track karts in Kentucky (dirt), moved up to a mini sprint, then ended up with a late model. Came to college, got into asphalt, never looked back. Actually just put a bunch of kart parts on ebay to finance the rest of the fsae car...

Now that the autocross bug has bit (firt autocross of the season for our reagon this sunday) I found myself racing forklifts in the warehouse at work today:
