View Full Version : Spring and Suspension Travel Design Numbers?

I'm building a formula car about half-way between an FSAE and an Ariel Atom.

Is it typical to design the springs and suspension travel for a g-load or for a target bounce/droop range? Suspension components are stressed for more than 4G, but the shocks will bottom at about 1.5G, even with some really stout springs.
