Hi everyone,

Just wondered if anyone knows if you can cut the pressure relief valve pipe that goes down to the sump in a CBR600 4I engine, if you are re making the sump sjallower, therefore needing to lift the pick up and relief valve up to stop them hittting the bottom of the sump.

Ive checked the pick up and im pretty certain i can just cut it and shorten it, but dont know about the pressure relief valve.

Any advice or help would be great.

We made a 90 degree elbow with appropriate stops to prevent the valve from popping out or moving under acceleration.

You could possibly cut the pipe, I can't advise on it though and you would have to thoroughly clean the galleries to remove swarf.

we have shortened our pressure relief valves, just make sure you put the little grooves back in the bottom, or put some holes in, to allow the air/oil out when the piston opens, or it will seal. We left a stock one in on the practice track at comp last year, it sealed itself up, overpressurised and blew the seal out of the oil filter.
