Hey guys.

I called a few shops and asked for a harder compound than the Goodyear R085 for 13" slick tires, since these tires last very little, and we use them for tests. I was then offered 13", R160 compound tires, and I was told these would last at least 4 times more.

Can anyone tell me if this compound will be any good on a FSAE? Is it true it´ll last longer?
Thanks

Cheers

Provided you follow the proper srub-in procedure yes it will last significantly longer. (Its an excellent choice for old cars)

Only your competition drivers, the stopwatch, and your data acquisition system will know the difference.

We have run the 6.5 inch R065, the 7 inch R110 and the 6.5 inch R160. The R160 does have excellent traction for about 50% of the life of the tire then it slowly becomes very hard. I would use it though for older tires(I mean cars) because it does last for a very long time.
