Anyone else going up/down/left/right in the states to hit up the F1 race in austin? We've got GA tickets and plan on roaming around the track,

Myself, last years team lead and our fearless project manager are heading down and should be in austin friday sometime. Either we'll be staying at my families place by fredericksburg or possibly with someone in austin.

Figured we wouldn't be the only ones heading out. Possibly find some more FSAE guys to go out and *ah-hem*consult*cough*drink*cough* with?

On a side note I just watched a few of the "first laps" of the track and it looks even more AWESOME than the plans lead it on to be.

Can't wait. Managed to drag my parents and girlfriend along, grandstand tickets in turn 2. I'll probably be wandering during practice though.

sweet deal. I'd be game for getting a bunch of the FSAE guys together and having some festivities one night. I think we're meeting with a couple longhorns when we're down there. Should get a good list of guys going and figure something out.

Kudos to dragging the girlfriend along ben....most of ours have left us...because racecar..hahaha. we might have a homage to that on WHR13 this year...think WWII kill marks...lol

8 current and former members of Mizzou Racing will be in GA. We will be doing lots of "consulting" before, during and after the events. PM me if you guys decide on a place to meet up.

Just realized that the weekend schedule was up. Definitely excited now. GT3 Cup, Ferrari Challenge, and Historic Gran Prix as support races. Can't wait!

I was a little bit worried after looking at the "banned items" list that COTA put out.

on the list were "only point-and-shoot" digital cameras. This then got changed to "detachable lenses under 10in" and FINALLY now its open to all detachable lenses (at least for what i could find)

Had me sweatin bullets there for a sec, there was no way that my phone would do those cars justice! Now i can bring my 7d and 500mm lens along...I'm a happy camper http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'm a Longhorn alum from 06 and I'll be in town for the Grand Prix. I plan to visit campus and the FSAE garage on Friday around 1pm. If anybody is interested in meeting up, I'll gladly show everyone around. Email me and I'll set up a specific time and place if there is enough interest.

Like Mark said earlier we have a group of 8 coming down from Missouri Thursday through Monday. Is anyone staying in the area of Bastrop, TX and looking for transportation downtown each night? So far cab fare's looking pretty darn expensive...

A word of caution to all of you going down to COTA for the Grand Prix - the COTA organizers are very concerned about traffic jams and travel into the track taking several times longer than it should. So please allow plenty of time to get to the track.

Apparently the historic cars are going to be allowed to "race", unlike at Indy, should be fun!

Well luckily they've got the shuttle service away from the track for nearly everyone, which should help keep the traffic down near the track for those of us who spent extra on the parking pass http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Interesting selection of artists playing at the track...

Packing up tonight! We're all pretty stoked for a bitchin weekend. I think we'll be down there bright and early friday for everything. Unfortunately I'll have to do some HW one of the nights...but we'll have to get together with some of ya and have brewski's.

I've got contact with one of the current longhorns and between him and chris, it sounds like we're going to try and sneak over to their shop.

I'll use this as a bit of an update thread...I'm sure I'll be wearing a WHR shirt of some sort....and I'm a tall goofy looking sucker too so I'll be hard to miss.
