Because we had battery voltage problems in the past, when we can we use a car battery to start the car. Otherwise we use a motorcycle battery. We haven't had any problems arrise from using the car battery.

We used this same plug, hanging off the rear of our car.
One side is hooked to our on-car battery. There's another plug hooked up to a massive car battery. For starting, we hook the batteries together to give the starter a larger pool of juice to draw from. The alternator gives sufficient recharge to allow the car to start on its own, if the driver stalls the car.

One good thing about this, is that we had a tiny battery on the very inside of our car. To get jumper terminals to recharge the battery or jump start the car, would be a hassle to say the least. (remove steering column, column support, remove one piece molded carbon seat, remove carbon/glass battery box, etc etc)

The plug is red (in the picture), and its plastic so it doesn't add much weight.
