After playing with Ricardo for a while, and reading just about every post on Wave, it seems to me that just about everyone is using some kind of work-around to get the restrictor to behave. I just can't get over the fact that the you should be able to plug in a simple convergent-divergent duct, and obtain a choke flow condition (which seemingly doesn't happen).
This same problem was confirmed with some Pro-motorsports fellows who had run into the same problem in Wave, but were able to fix it. The engineer I spoke with wasn't able to remember the fix, but recalled it had something to do with a simple change in the modeling.
likewise, I know in Virtual 4-stroke there are some problems with convergence once the air in a duct aproaches sonic, and I have heard there a few different solvers to combat this.
Does anyone know the trick in Ricardo to make the mass-flow rate choke? (I already know the work-arounds, like variable orfice, stepped diffusers, and force feeding pressure drops)
