Hello guys,

We are looking to use some plate to fix "anti intrusion plate" of the impact attenuator. Looking the rules, we saw that "anti intrusion plate" need fix on the front bulkhead. We saw some teams that make welded plates drilled in front bulkhead to fix "anti intrusion plate". Is it permissible? Need to declare in the SES?

As long as you use minimum 5/16" bolts and your Anti-intrusion plate covers the outside dimension of the tubes, in front view, you should be fine with that set up.

This is more an issue for the IAD. You have to do a dynamic test for your IA. For this test you have to use an anti-intrusion plate and a bulkhead identical to the design in your car.
This test will proove if the IA is rules compliant and if the fixture of the anti-intrusion plate is capable of reacting the applied loads at the same time.
At scrutineering you have to show the crashed test piece. And that doesn't mean only the IA but the whole test setup. This gives the scrutineer the possibility to check if the design in the car is equal to what you've tested.

Describe the whole setup precisly in your IAD. If it is not sufficient you will be told so http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
