Turbo gaskets

So maybe I'm missing something but I can not find any gt12 turbine entrance or exit gaskets. Does anyone have a good place to get them, or an idea on how to make them?

Make a CAD model and have them laser cut. Cutting it out by hand blows.

I recommend graphite, you can probably find it at any local gasket store.

We use copper. I never like to use graphite or a paper type material for exhaust gaskets, especially on a turbo system.

I think I've commented on this forum about this before... but if my memory serves me, the copper gasket we used back in 2004 didn't work worth its weight in salt. It was pretty easy to see that it was leaking as evidenced by the trail of exhaust particulates left on the face of the copper upon inspection. Try it if you want, but as long as that face has a flatness to within the same spec as the flange (which may or may not be called out on the drawing, I can't remember) then you'll be ok. We eventually just said screw copper gaskets and ran it without one. It had no noticeable leakage when we ran it like that.

What about that RTV copper stuff for exhausts?

In less there is some higher temp stuff I can only find that good up to 700ºF. From what I've read I should expect egts closer to 1400º-1500ºF on the turbine inlet side

Hey Kirk, we ran it with gaskets in 2007. I distinctly remember Jared and Greg racing to make'em (out of copper). Greg won title of "can fabricate anything with anything out of anything." lol

anyway, it didn't make much of a difference with or without it.

Like I said, I would use graphite. Ran it now for 3 years on both the inlet and the outlet with no problems or exhaust leaks.

surface your turbine inlet flange on your manifold and on your turbo first.

Then h20-jet a copper gasket. Torque to spec and use a positive locking fastener.
