We are looking to find out what sort of temperature range most teams find the tyres are working in, particularly the goodyear RO65?

It seems to be the one thing missing from the tyre data we have been able to collect so far.

Also, are most of the teams running nitrogen (or is anyone not?).

Surely someone out there measures the tyre temp. occasionally http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Not (necessarily) looking for specifics. I would guess in the 80-110 C range, would that be in the ball park?

Actually, our Hoosiers like to be around 140F (60C), in my experience. But Goodyears are different beasts.

Hi Matt,
The old rule of thumb for road racing slicks was to get them wo the boiling point of water, ie 100C, however, the tyres we use are 'sprint' tyres with much lower 'boiling points'
Depending on how soft the tyres are, look for about 70 or 80 degrees as a starting poing for max grip
