I m the head of my university team and we are participating for the first time in this competition.I would like to know about the softwares u guys use to:
1.simulate the intake and exhaust
2.Engine performance
and are these softwares available on the internet??

Hi Kevin, I suggest you check out Ricardo Wave @ www.ricardo.com, (http://www.ricardo.com,) it gets a fair amount of use here at UWA. Something that is also quite popular is gt-power at www.gtisoft.com (http://www.gtisoft.com). All of these will require you to organise a licensing agreement with those companies, in form of sponsorship or payment. At this stage I've not seen a useful freeware or open source product that could do what I think you need.

Alternativly you could uses a mainstream CFD package to get an idea whats going on inside a plenum with a steady state case. Transient stuff will be alot more complicated to setup.
