Does the radiator need to fit in the roll plane like the intake?

What do the rules say?

They don't mention the radiator, just curious if anyone had any past experience with mounting the radiator outside of the roll plane

If it's not in the rules, that generally implies it isn't required by the rules. But, I would go ahead and check with the rules committee if you're worried. Bring the answer with you to comp just in case.

But if it's outside of the surface envalope of the car, how high off the ground do plan to mount your radiator?

Do you mean mounting a radiator not in a front facing position like a ducted lateral facing radiator?

Take a gander at Missourri S&T's recent cars. Should give you the answer you are looking for.

I figured they meant off to the side past a tire, etc.

I figured they were going to deploy it as a parachute / air brake.
