Don't even bother to make one. Go to your local bike shop or scrap dealer and look for something that will do the job with your engine.

Try typing "Muffler Design" into Google. The results will give you a good starting point, then check the references for some kind of text. Mostly its basic Wave Physics for a resonator, but you will most likely want a straight through, depending on the rest of your exhaust design.

Try going to a patent office online. They usually have some fun and innovative ideas to look at for mufflers.
