I am finding it really difficult to source a nylon slider chain tensioner. Has anyone got any suggestions of where i can purchase one? Preferably in the uk but elsewhere ok.

Any particular reason you cannot make one?

Fair point, but the Judges keep saying 'Why build something yourself, when you can buy it off the shelf'.

These guys are in the US. East coast to be exact but they should have something if you insist on buying one. http://www.hyperracing.com/browse.asp?id=830&classid=10&catid=540 (http://www.hyperracing.com/browse.asp?id=830&classid=10&catid=540)
I second the idea of making one, they take about 30mins tops to turn one from nylon stock if you take your time.

If you ran away whenever a judge asked "why?", you would not go far in Design competition. If you have solid logic/engineering behind your decision making, the judge should cave.

In this case some likely reasons are, 1) better system integration, 2) lower cost, 3)lower weight, 4) better performance. Of course if you really have nothing to justify building it, buy it.
