There is no magic diff out there, all of them have advantages and disadvantages.

Many FSAE teams run the Torsen diff because one of its advantages is being very cheap to FSAE teams. One of its disadvantages is acting like an open differential when one of the rear tyres is unloaded. Not all teams run the Torsen, though.

Man I'd love to try just a solid spool. Anybody doing this and how bad is the understeer? If you do, do you lift an inside wheel gocart style to avoid it?

if you really wanted a spool but didn't want to give up all traction, you could always go with a locker setup.....

but a spool is just a sprocket on a carrier... no diff at all. Save some serious lbs and talk about simple!

as i know there is a posibility to preload torsen dif and it works with unloaded rear tire, but i didn't know how it works (would be very intresting if somebody could explain here). What do you mean very cheap? There are clutch type dif for lada 2108 and it cost ~400Eu, it's made in Russia (i don't like russian engineering especialy in cars http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. Also you can find clutch type dif on BMW cars.

There's more about different differentials on the "Torque bias ratio help" thread.

How to select ramp angles? There are 3 types Clutch type LSD 1, 1.5 and 2 way, which is better? And how much preload to use?

I read a paper on clutch type limited slip differentials that had allot of information as well as equations for calculating torque bias. It's probably not exactly what you are looking for but it would be helpful if you were trying to make your own clutch pack differential or if you just wanted to learn more about differentials in general. I was able to get a free copy through my school library.
