Hey Guys

I'm trying to find a good place to pick up a couple new helmets, and have been running into a lot of brick walls. The best places I found were:

www.simpsonracing.com (http://www.simpsonracing.com) (which seems to have completely disappeared)

www.thebellstore.com (http://www.thebellstore.com) (which doesn't seem to ship racing helmets to Canada)

I know that M2000 will get by, but with the spirit of the rules, and the general logic "protect a $10 head with a $10 helmet" I would like to get the best possible helmet.

Let me know what you have found, so I can quit Googling......

Vancouver suppliers:

1) http://ompwins.com/helmets.htm . Talk to Frank, he is the owner. If you tell him you are on a FSAE team, I am sure he will give you a discount. Their helmets are very well made, very light, comfortable and come with fog-free lens (but expensive). Frank stocks a large inventory and is a direct factory distributor for OMP.

2) http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/misc_parts.html . Talk to Don, the owner. He is an autoxer himself and will most likely give you a small discount also if you mention FSAE (mark up on Bell helmets is very low compare to OMP). He doesn't stock all models and sizes however.

Good luck.

I did a quick search and google lists the site as
http://www.simpsonraceproducts.com
instead of simpsonracing.com

You can always use motorcycle helmets also. Much easier to find since bike shops are more prevalent than car racing shops. I used mine last year. It was Snell SA2000 and was certified at the comp without any problems.

I am going to look around Saskatoon and see what they have at the bike shops as well. As far as I know motorcycle helmets are rated M95 or M2000, and are acceptable. If your helmet is SA rated it is not specifically a motorcycle helmet (please correct me if I am misunderstanding this, as I am going from what the tech inspector told me last year as she cringed at the thought of allowing me on track with an M95 helmet)

Joe, thanks for the links, and contacts. I will get ahold of him ASAP. I talked to Al at ABC Traders and bought 3 sheets of that 1" Al Honeycomb.
