there is no contradiction

you can use 25.4 * 2.4

28 * 2.1

or any tube with > 2.1 mm wall AND greater inertia than 25.4*2.4 tube has

For us trapped in the non-Metric world:

The minimum wall thickness you can use is 0.083". However, whatever tube you choose to use, EI must equal EI for 1.00" X 0.095" tubing.
