Hi All,

I know that this subject has been covered before but I would like to hear from teams who use Mobil 1 MX4T 10W 40 synthetic oil in a Honda CBR600 F4i engine.

Has anyone had any problems with this combination?

Has anyone noticed perfomance gains from this oil?

Any other relevant information would be great http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Cheers.

Auburn has used this oil for a few years. I beleive we even ran some we sourced down under, once upon a time. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We never undertook a power study, at least when I was there. But durability was excellent.

It is quite expensive (we got ours donated)

A member of our team who is really into sport bikes found this article. I found it very interesting and informative, but the experiments that they ran are hardly scientific proof. It might shed some light on the situation.

Hey, check this out: https://www.amsoil.com/lit/g2156.pdf This is what the magazine test should have looked like.

From the mag graphs, I decided that I should check out Amsoil due to thier high total base number (since these engines mainly sit), high weight retention after extreme heat, and good standings in everything else.

I was amazed at how much information they presented on their site. I found that their motorcycle oils have a lack of friction modifiers (thats a good thing, for those of you who didn't read the article), and a 4 ball test rating of .40, which the mag failed to show. To find out more for your self, go to thier site https://www.amsoil.com/, online store, motor oil, and then choose the oil in the drop down menu. Then, click on it again where it shows prices. It will give you all the vital information and descriptions you will need in determining which oil is best for you.

I'm thinking the AMF oil is the best stuff. It's just like their MCF, but has a higher total base number.

Anybody else have an opinion?

Greg 08, thanks for that link, it lead me to 2hrs of research and some great information that I will carry with me and use for the rest of my life. I never knew oils were that complex.
