Looks like I'm taking a job down there, turning left.
Recommendations on steak, sushi, and general awesomeness are appreciated.

I worked out there for a while, at a coal powerplant upgrade project.
Sakura Sushi on Franklin Bvld in Gastonia was one of my favorite restaurants.
Coyote Joe's is a huge Country Western Club over by the airport. I don't even know if they have food, but its a fun place to go on weekend nights.
Old Stone Steakhouse in Belmont is also a good place for food.
My favorite place in Charlotte though is the US National Whitewater center. It has 2 artificial river channels, fed by a large upside-down dam (aka giant pumphouse), which a conveyor at the bottom to take you back up. It's actually really challenging, as was evident by my $3,000+ in ER bills in less than a month. But worth it. (tip: buy a full face helmet. That alone would have save me $1200 in stitches) They also have a climbing center. THey have a small restaurant/bar with decent food, but more importantly a good selection of MicroBrews, which is otherwise hard to come by in NC. Also some nice running and biking trails.

I live about an hour north of Charlotte. It's an Awesome City.
Downtown has great nightlife. There's got be no less then 30 bars all walking distance from each other. Everything from country to techno. Dance clubs to pubs.
I agree on the whitewater center. Went there for a bachelor party and had a great time.
About 20 minutes north of Charlotte is Mooresville, which is probably where your new job is or close to it. Mooresville is a pretty good area too, and about 10 minutes from Lake Norman which is great place for summer activities. Vinnies and the rusty rudder are great bars right on the lake.
Concord is about 20 min northeast of the city, which is where the speedway is.

Yep, I do work for one of the teams in Mooresville. Taking a look at some places to live while I start work. Huntersville seems like it's got stuff going on... and the traffic sure shows it! Will have to scout around a bit. Maybe I'll look at Concord tomorrow night... haven't been to Iron Thunder saloon in a while, haha.
