Here's "Iron Mike" in action pre-bodywork, with the "major suspension issues" fixed.

The driver in the white helmet is Mike T, I'm the one in the black helmet. Waggoner was too fast to catch on tape, apparently.
Right Click, Save Target; 10MB MPEG (http://students.washington.edu/dennyt/fsae/GangsterLean-web.mpeg)

Anybody else have videos or pics of their current cars they'd like to share?

Public Service Announcement: Don't drink Monster after 6pm unless you want to be up all night... but it does make polishing wheel centers go a little faster http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So i'm not good with all the hyperlinking and space-age computer stuff but here's a short clip on my webspace. https://webspace.utexas.edu/ca61483/www/
Click on Fcar, then Fcar0001.
There's some pics too.

We tested our throttle response and our ceramic exhaust coating last week. You can see the results here (https://webspace.utexas.edu/hachedj/sharing/)

Wow, that's really awesome dj.

Wilso- Why'd you let some newbie driver rag on your car like that on it's second run? Sweet helmet, though.

Heres a link of the first driving day for Rutgers this year. Its the same video, the first link is Windows Media, the second link is Divx....

Edited my link above to a 10MB MPEG instead of the avi.

Agent,
I like it - who needs cones when you have students, anyways, right?

Haha Denny, I was going to say the same thing! I also like the lightweight chain-guard you can see in the first half of the video - a very trusting cameraman to stand so close if that was the car's first time on the rolling road!

Car looks nice though, good luck to you and all the other teams!

Yeah, we have faith in our work so we don't mind standing close....

On the subject of video, does anybody know of any free software to get a webcam to capture a picture every few seconds? I want to make a timelapse film of our final build.

The logitech cameras come with software (Image Studio) that will do this. I'm not familiar with any others, though.

I'm pretty sure you can do it in Matlab, but the data acquisition toolbox might be required.

DJ,

This rocked. It was a huge hit at Chrysler today http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Thanks for bringing it to our attention - we will strive to make all new engines capable of this...

Yo La Tengo, Little Honda EP, Be Thankful for What You got. It's a cover of William DeVaughn's original.

Isn't it a cover of Massive Attack?

Denny Trimble

No, William DeVaughn did it in 1974 (http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/store/artist/album/0,,2562632,00.html) , it was his one-hit-wonder as far as I know. Massive Attack covered it as well.

I liked the song so I looked around for it today (and I'm trying to avoid reading for my Medieval Literature class).

So:
William DeVaughn (1974) (http://www.content.loudeye.com/scripts/hurl.exe?clipid=081883101030006900&cid=600111)

Massive Attack (1991) (http://www.content.loudeye.com/scripts/hurl.exe?clipid=011985301040006900&cid=600111)

Portrait (1994) (http://www.content.loudeye.com/scripts/hurl.exe?clipid=025136401030006900&cid=600111)

Yo La Tengo (1998) (http://dl.emusic.com/s/5qNphEMwH8wOqlOZan-jhBDUFfkvdQ2r5SKtml0pT93rEXCoXXbnfnjgHfD5U8eNDBku2 8ZN-l9_XsQqp1jQk000/Be_Thankful_For_What_You_Got.mp3)

I think that I kept it all straight.
Well, back to 1500 year old texts...

Antti,
How often do you guys drive indoors? That is absolutely crazy.

It looks like you guys have another gorgeous car this year. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Driving indoors was the only option because there was still snow on the ground http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
