Hi people,

I'm totally new to FSAE - as is my institution.

I've been asked to compile a project brief and hold a presentation to senior faculty in a couple of weeks. I was wondering if anyone else had to do the same and was hoping someone would be kind enough to allow me to view their presentation material.

I know it's a big ask, but I don't want to make a mess of this.

Thanks in advance.

Robt

The rulebook is always a good place to start

Hi Robt/Oz...

What University? Knowing your geographical location will help.

When QUT started up in 2003 they had a nearby university (UQ) come help them get started.

Also, what exactly are you looking for in terms of information?

Overview of the competition?

Manpower requirements?

Ballpark fundraising requirements?

Required tools and facilities?

Benefits?

The link provided above is exactly where I was going to point you to, also you can find all the rules here:

WOW!! Many thanks for all the replies.

I should correct the error in my first post - I'm new to FSAE - but my Uni isn't. My bad.

They've attempted to take part over the past two years, but haven't got off the virtual drawing board - hopefully this year will be different.

Robt.

My advice to you then: just put something together. Nothing fancy, nothing "awesome" or incredibly "innovative". Just build something. If you can make a car that finishes an endurance, you're doing better than half the teams out there during any given comp.

Once you have a running car, start adding "innovation" and coolness and whatever.

Remember, the car that is finished on time, however crappy, is still faster than the unfinished car with neat gadgets.

Not to mention what few sponsors you have, along with faculty support, will vanish after several years of not building anything.

Students start to vanish too if you can't show them any work being done.
