Hey guys,

So with the possibility of being able to use drive by wire for next year, there is one thing I have been thinking of. What would I use for a throttle body? As far as I know, I have not ran into any OEM DBW throttle bodies that are small enough for our use. I am not sure how DBW works on modern motorcycles, but maybe one of the throttle bodies could be used individually?

Then there is retrofitting a current TB with a DBW motor. I am not sure how I would go about this yet, as obviously it would have to be a very well made solution.

Has anyone else been thinking about it?

What about using a high speed servo with encoder? For the safety aspect, if the servo motor position becomes implausible (ex 10% difference between commanded throttle position and measured throttle position from independent TPS) then shut down the fuel system.

This is the Bosch 32mm electronic throttle common to the Woodward MotoTron system. UW-Madison uses it on their Clean Snowmobile. I've held it in person and it's not unreasonably huge or heavy for FSAE use.

Awesome, that's exactly what I needed. Now they just need to approve it...
