We run a 04 cbr600rr and for our exhaust went with a Burns Stainless 4-1collector and built equal length around that. The above book and "Design techniques for engine manifolds" are very good reading on how to properly design the length for you resonance and so on and so forth... actually applies over to the intake really well too! The collector is a bit pricey, but definitely worth it.
