Last year in Michigan, there was mention of a "Best Push Bar Award" coming this year...

I was wondering if this was mentioned in the West competition as well, or just Michigan

I'm pretty sure it will just be a Michigan thing this year.

hey bobby email ricky he is on the committee( of which he is the only member. he didn't let me help much) that created and is judging it so i think he will know.. and if they stuck with the judging criteria he came up with it will be a pretty awesome award.

For those who care to check, the rules and score sheet for the official push bar competition at the Michigan event are now posted on the official SAE web site.

"Judging will be entirely subjective in nature; influenced by: creativity, uniqueness, innovation, shininess/blingyness, originality and how the judges are feeling at the time. "

i think this statement has already been applied to the vehicle design judging. Especially the last bit. :P

We did ours at comp.. our engine guy did cut and weld only 4 tubes to get the job done..

A judge on the tech inspection really liked our last resort thingie http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif. Also we won a "push bar race" against Puerto Rico after the big photo returning to the paddocks.

I saw some push-o-matic things with turbines, CVT's and CNC'ed parts. How many bucks did you used on such aerospace wal-mart carts?

EDIT:
I did read the push bar design rules and the evaluation sheet on the SAE.org site. I'm still laughing!! http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif, I never thinked about a push bar being a "design effort" for a team, now i know why teams attach turbines and CNC mill their push rigs. That's kind of joke that anyone can get from the main tent announcer at the late hours of every days at Michigan Proving Grounds as "Singapur is not in China", or "Requesting invisible oil".

I'm working on ours right now... it won't be fancy, but it might be stylish... I'm not sure yet.

Too bad we couldn't make Michigan and they didn't do the pushbar at VIR. We had an awesome one!

I couldn't get mine done in time to make an entry, but you can bet I'll be bringing it back next year. The presentation of that award was top notch all the way though.

Anything that can be done to bring a little fun to a very stressful competition is always a plus in my book.
