Hi again,

we are designing our hubs and face this problem of overlapping bolts. we usually press-fit the wheel studs in the hubs, but the wheels and the discs we have this time have a difference in the pcd of just 2 mm. also one has five bots and the other has four. thus we are unable to phase the two flanges properly. also drilling the holes in the wheels has also been ruled out.

i saw a pic from this year's FS event in which the team had threaded the holes in the hub! is threading in Al advisable at all? Please help.

Also for the rear hubs, we have been using stock hubs from one of the local cars here because of the splines they involve for the drive-shafts. What are u guys doing for the rear hubs as i fear again that the splines may not last the competition if i make any on the al hub.

Thanks
Nitesh

Nothing wrong with drilling and tapping aluminum. Its like butter. But I'd definately use helicoils. No question.
