Hey everyone,

we are designing a class 2 electric car, however in order to complete simulations we need to have any data from data acquisition tests to perform our simulation upon.

Is there anyone who can provide data from previous tests, it doesn't matter if it is old or new, we just need it inorder to be capable of simulating the vehicle.

Thank you very much for all your help in advance http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I don't think many teams would give you much of their data, nor do I think it would be that helpful.

What would probably be most useful to you (both in the design of your car and in the design tent) is to develop your own simulation from basic principles (F=m*a, F=mu*Fn, tire data, track layout, etc).

It will be very frustrating for you to try to correlate someone else's model to your model and your vehicle.

Pick up a copy of Racecar Vehicle Dynamics and go from there. There are also a number of threads on this forum dedicated to vehicle simulation, so use the Search button to find those.

First of all thank you for your reply and thank you for the concern.

I'm sorry if my post wasn't clear enough, I don't need the data to simulate the actual vehicle response in terms of design and handling. We want to simulate a track run i.e a plot of speed versus time for a given track run so that we can simluate the electrical system and check the motor & control response and also the performance of the accumulators. We already have most of the virtual mathematical model ready but as we don't have the chance to actually run a car, as we are entering class 2, we would like to run our simulation against data acquired from a real track run to gain insight on1 the performance of the vehicle. Up till now we've come up with some generic track runs depending on what we expect but real data would give us a true insight.

Send me an email, and I should be able to get you a speed vs. time plot of the FSAE-A 2011 comp track. Might even have a GPS map too.
