Are there any teams out there that are using the large 46 tooth spline to drive the torsen diff? And do you they have data for the mating external spline not the internal spline, I already have that info.

I don't know of any teams that use the spline to drive the differential. Are you using it in a typical FSAE application? If so, I would consider either tapping the flange and use bolts to attach the sprocket, or making a custom aluminum housing. Either one of these seems much easier to me than trying to drive the spline.

Hello!

We have been using the large spline for two seasons now.
If you send me your email-adress, I could send you the data. (the info is also available at the torsen-homepage)

cheers,
Greg

Hello,

I'm with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo's Formula SAE team and we have to mount our sprocket using the large splines on the Torsen 012000 University Special (Audi part no. 01A 409 751G). We have been trying to track down a spline cutter to cut male splines to mate to the female ones on the diff but we've had no luck, even when talking to Torsen.

Does anyone know of a spline cutter we could use, or does anyone have details for another manufacturing method? Our team cut these splines once in the past but they had the same issue finding the right cutter so they didn't turn out so well.

Thanks,

John

Going away from the solid rear axle this year? Bummer.

All of the spline information is provided on the drawings. You can give those to pretty much any spline cutting shop and they can give you the conjugate external spline on a shaft. It's not uncommon to have to get a custom cutter ground for spline applications unless you're doing them all the time. There are a lot of places in the area (socal) that can do this sort of work for you. To me, that sounds like a big pain in the butt when you can just buy something like this: http://www.taylor-race.com/par...Stub%20Axles&popup=1 (http://www.taylor-race.com/part.cfm?id=4376&category=Chain%20Drive%20%20%2F%20FSAE&subcategory1=Stub%20Axles%20Bolt%20Up%20Housings&subcategory2=Bolt%20Up%20CV%20and%20Tripod%20Stub% 20Axles&popup=1) from Taylor Race.
