Hi,
I was wondering if someone knows where to buy an involute spline cutter for cutting Torsen splines.
Thanks a lot,
Felix

There s a company out there that sells twio stubs made out of 4340HT. Might want to look into that. Not a manufactuing guy but pretty sure you re gonna save some cash compared to buying the cutter unless you want to produce these things.the company is called paradigm motorsport. Btw allthis stuff is on the torsen FAQ.

I believe the Torsen side gears have straight-sided splines, not involute splines? You talking about where the stubs for the halfshafts spline into the diff, right?
I ground one myself from the drawing on the Torsen website and chucked it into a flycutting head in our mill. It didn't take all that long. For a tool I used a regular old lathe cutting blank - carbide brazed onto a HSS holder. Didn't take that long, but I also had access to a nice tool/drill bit grinding fixture with angle readouts so I could get both faces at the right angle. I just eyeballed the radius at the tip (for the root radius).

I believe Taylor Racing also sells stub shafts with the correct splines on them, or you can scavenge then from a Miata or an Audi with the correct splines and weld them to whatever you're using.
