Anyone have documents on shaft / thread tolerances on these fasteners? A quick Google-ing didn't come up with much.

We always used AN hardware and the fasteners always seemed 2-4 thou undersized. Even while reaming spacers etc .001 under there would always be some slop there (not to mention in rod-end and spherical bearings).

Anyone familiar with NAS or military spec fasteners? Do they have closer tolerance on the grip diameter?

Perfect, Alan. Thanks.

Looks like the NAS do have much better grip diameter tolerance...

Is it possible you had the surplus undersize AN hardware?

Best,
Drew

If you know the number for any MIL, AN, NAS, NA spec that you are trying to find information for, then this site might help you out.

There is a lot of information available there, it is just a little hard to find sometimes.
