i was surprised to use the Search function and not find a thread specifically dedicated to this...

i am curious to know what some data-driven opinions are on air filters. i am considering running a cone or cylindrical type filter on this year's car. most likely something compact for packaging reasons. i have models picked out offered by the UniFilter company (oiled foam) and also K&N (oiled gause).

any thoughts on the efficiency (flow vs. filtration) of Oiled Gauze vs. Oiled Foam ?

also, any thoughts on the performance of Cylindrical vs. Cone-Shaped filter of the same major OD and overall length?

thanks,

You should also consider the effects of creating a resonnance chamber at the tip of your intake. You might generate some pressure wave to help your intake.

what are some guidelines to take advantage of this pressure wave ??

also, would these results really be seen in dyno testing? i would assume a 'free flowing' air filter wouldn't be a great resonnance chamber.
