I'm joining two other guys from my team for a spring break trip to the 12hr Sebring race.

Plan so far is to fly in Tuesday and camping at the track. It'd be cool to meet up with some fellow FSAE'ers.

Also, I'm all ears for any suggestions from those that have attended this event before.

Never been, but swing by the Black Swan tent and ask for Justin.

Go to Green park after dark....It is pretty much in the middle of the track....take plastic beaded necklaces with ya.....you will be surprised....

Make sure you make at least one of the night practices too....

A majority of our team (USF) will be out there just south of turn 9. Come say hi. If you need tickets we're selling student tickets for $50.

How many student tickets do you have available? Myself and a few others were thinking about going down.

Myself and a few others are going to be driving down thurs/fri and hopefully camping in Green Park if everything goes well. School car club paying for the "track trip" tickets.

Were thinking of trying to find a karting track nearby at some point in time as well.

No need for tickets. One of our guys is a corner marshall, so we're getting in with "guest" passes.

This is the second time that I have read about the mardi gras beads. Done and done http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I'd be down for some karting action, but will need transportation. Carpool? http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

FSAE attendance is looking pretty healthy so far.

I used to travel with the ALMS/IMSA for years.
Every time I would go to that track I would discover something new. Very cool...but very crowded place....watch em into turn one at night ...I bet most of those guys pee blood for a week.
.Have fun guys

Never braved the infield - I've been told they rob the uniform off your back :-)

Is that inside the town of Sebring or a place at the track?

It's just before the holiday inn if you're heading north through Sebring.

Will we be surprised now that you've said that? I think I know what to expect with beads... Now I'm a bit scared. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I'd just get some free Tecate beads when you get down - free is always best.

Schedule is here for those wanting to plan around the action: http://www.imsaracing.net/2011...nd%20Supp%20Regs.pdf (http://www.imsaracing.net/2011/events/sebring/2011%20Sebring%20Schedule%20and%20Supp%20Regs.pdf)

Took a bunch of photos, but no night shots because my camera cannot handle such tasks.

I see I wasnt the only one to manage to snap some pics of ORECA Matmut's suspension in tech. Must have been right near you and never new it.

I also managed to get almost full video of Audi changing a corner after Pugeot tried driving through them

Nice pics guys.

We had a pretty good weekend with 1-2 in GTE with BMW and P1 in GTE-Am with the Krohn Ferrari.

It was a pretty exciting race from my perspective - what was it like your side?

I was the one using my Droid X as a flashlight and providing the tech inspectors with light so they could see what they were doing. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Didn't watch the race completely, but did spend a lot of time at turn 7 and then caught the last half hour at turn 17b.

Ah yes, I did see that. I was going to do the same thing but got too distracted trying to get a look at all of that usually hidden technology.

We spent most of our time either wandering or standing in turn 10. Race got very good near the end between the Vettes and BMW's, as well as Highcroft nearly beating the Pugeots. Watched the end of the race from the front straight and proceeded to wind up with about 1.5 mins of facetime in the foreground of the shots of the podium crowd.
