Hi
I was hoping to reduce the amount of layers (time) on our cnc'd foam for our bodywork plug. Does someone known if a layer of polyester surfacing primer (Duratec make) on the foam (styrofoam) will be enough to protect it from the resin.

I would check with the manufacture if you can use it on what ever foam the plug is made from, as it doesn't say it can be used on all foams'.
I would recommend doing a test piece with some scrap foam, you will only need to put on a few coats and I wouldn't worry about the sanding.
If your short of time you could seal the plug with an epoxy resin and lightly sanded before applying the primmer.
