we are on our 4th weekend of testing and tuning, still setting up the suspension and engine stuff. we have run a number of mock autox laps, a slew of accelleration tests, and are working on equilibrium testing on a skidpad to get the spring and ARB rates set.

through collaboration of ideas between our faculty advisor and our suspension team, we found a sweet idea to set the correct shock height and ride height AND keep a load on teh springs so they dont come loose and fall off. whoop!

if you come looking for the A&M car, here is a preview of what it should look like all dolled up.

oh, and dont give me crap about spelling errors, as i'm sure they exist. there is no spell check on this forum, and i dont feel like looking up the proper spelling of anything, unless it's for a report or job interview.

Nice light weight car. How much does it weigh? It's a very pretty car. I like it. Looks nice and low.

crap, i just got an error message, gotta retype the reply.

thanks for the compliments, although i would have put a Texas shape in place of the circle, but that idea came too late after the body was painted...but that's just me.

as for dimensions of the car:

480 lbs wet with body (no nose cone)
66" wheelbase
49"/45" front/rear track widths
1.2" ride height w/driver

Very nice indeed. Agreed on the circle. It makes it look vaguely like an off-color Japanese flag. And I'm glad our color's red, but to each their alma mater on that. :P

And hey, you have a body - that's good. Ours still in progress, but plugging along good. All off the molds and ready for detail sanding. At least, I hope. I should run up, find out and get a few more hours of sanding in.

Sanding with the right hand's out - last night, a couple of fingers just started spontaneously bleeding, and I realized, hey, I don't have much skin left on that one, do I.

Off to test my ambidextrousness out, then.

use a DA sander

works wonders, and you dont end up sacrificing large portions of your skin

once we get our number on the inside and put a few, neatly organized sponsor logos and names around the circle, it wont look so bad...

our only major concern right now is that once we put the tip on the body (nose cone), it might make our car look like a giant male appendage...

i'm referring to an arm! get your minds out of the gutter!

We had to rename our 2000 car Richard because the advisor would not call it by its orignal name Big Dick.

i'll have to suggest that one to the team. na, i'll just cut out that name and put it on the car, and see if anyone gets the joke.

That is an interesting shape if I might say myself. Too bad they aren't from USC. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
