well, was thinking it might be a useful thread to get started. I was wondering what a 99-03 R6 engine weighs? Reason being is we are debating between several engines with weight of course being part of the criteria.
I know our CBR600RR was 115'ish or so
the cbr250RR are suppose to be 80'ish
old GSXR600 (99-02) are around 120.
The YFZ450 is 83 (UPS scale)
Thanks for any help...if this get's going with more accurate weights I'll get this organized by make and model year and the weights.
Thanks, Micah

Not sure on the weights, but the 03 R6 motor was a new one, that's the year they added fuel injection. so it would be 99-02 R6 engine then the 03-05 engine.

Are the weights you quoted wet weights or dry weights?

From the RMIT engine museum:
WR450 - 30kgs (66lbs)
CBR600F2 - 59kgs (130lbs)
1972 Honda Scamp air-cooled twin cylinder 600 including gearbox and diff (integral) - around 68kgs.
Suzuki SV650 twin - around 65kgs (if I remember rightly?)
Holden 3.8 litre Ecotec V6 - around 300kgs. (runs terribly with 20mm restrictor)

The above all dry weights, no intake or exhaust.

Cheers,

Geoff
