Damn! This is almost the worst time for that to happen, but at least you got it back together.

We had a good final test day, all our big problems are fixed and we sorted out most of the little ones. The car's in the back of our rent-a-rig and we'll be rolling Eastward around noon today.

I thought we were having problems completely rebuilding our drivetrain after a bolt came lose and destroyed it. I guess we can't complain to much anymore.

Good luck and see you there.

We lost the timing chain tensioner friday night, the timing chain skipped and mushed some valves. The head is going back together as I am typing this, and we are hoping to drive tonight.

Wednesday is the beginning of the end.

We had an ok Sunday if that counts... I think we finally figured out why we're crunching starter gears (gear #6 and a slight adjustment of the fuel maps solved the problem - everyone's fingers are crossed)

We were finally liberal with throttle application only to see excessive rear wheel hop, but we're saving the stories for Detroit. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif And it's not because of a suspension design or manufacturing flaw... http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Hey ethan007,
The exact thing happened to us on Tuesday evening. We luckily had recieved our spare motor just two hours earlier. Good Luck to all in Michigan.

We got our engine back together with just new valves. The best part is we have higher compression now then before we borked the timing chain. The car is running really well now.

We are packing up right now, and are looking forward to meeting all you there.

Good luck,

yeah, we were supposed to be runing all day saturday. woudn up fixing odds and ends on the car. sunday was spent recalibrating the fuel map to what the car needs with a real load-damn weak dyno. we are going to finish tweaking the map tonight/this morning. we load up and roll at noon. handles really well though.

good luck to you all, see you there,
Bill

I went up to Davis to help with the final touches on the car over the weekend. When we pulled the diff on Saturday to swap sprockets we discovered one of the diff support bearings was hosed, and we had no spare... So much for a last test & tune. The guys headed out from California in the wee hours of the morning on Monday, sourced a replacement bearing in Michigan, picked it up today and installed it at the comp. Good to go!
