how quickly do you expect the 17 spots to fill up?

I'd try to do it earlier especially considering the out of province subsidy. Most of our past participants are from outside of Ontario(Michigan, New York, and lots of Quebec schools.).

We had 8 teams register in the first 24 hours. I expect at least 6 more spots to be filled by the end of the week, since many teams were just getting back from FSAE West. Registration will likely be full before August.
RacingManiac makes a good point as well.

FYI, we have almost full registration for the UofT Shootout with a bunch of regular participants still applying. The UofT team is considering the option of extending guaranteed registration for up to 4 more teams after which any further entries will be put on the waiting list. (A total of 20 spots + UofT + Waiting List)

Check out www.fsae.utoronto.ca/shootout (http://www.fsae.utoronto.ca/shootout) for updates.
