Hello guys,

Somebody have used stell 1045 in yours frame?

I saw in the rule 2012 that the minimum carbon is 0.1%.

Best regards!

I don't think that is a good choice, because the content of carbon in that steel is too high (0.45%). You may have serious problems during welding. Try to look for steels with no more than 0.3% carbon (for weldability). Also check for the possibility of formation of martensite and cold cracking.
Another thing... steels from 10xx series are pretty "basic". Try to look for something more "high tech" (not necessarily the AISI 4130!)
